Spider Boot Foot Protection System
The Spider Boot is truly a revolutionary new design for protecting a deminer’s feet and legs against blast-type anti-personnel mines. It can be worn in difficult terrains during reconnaissance, detection and victim assistance operations.
The basic principle of the Spider Boot is remarkably simple and effective: distance the foot from the source of the blast. This enables the blast energy and fragments to be dispersed and deflected away from the foot. Residual blast energy and fragments are absorbed by the hull.
The Spider Boot secures the user's combat boot to a platform with 4 pods: two forward and two rear, and all four extend slightly to the sides. |

Vehicle Mounted and Personal Cooling Systems
As work rate increases and environmental temperatures approach normal skin temperature (approximately 33°C or 91.5°F), cooling the body becomes more difficult. If air temperature is as warm, or warmer than the skin, heat transfer away from the body through conductive and convective means, decreases to the point where it is reversed and heat is gained by the body. In these circumstances, the heart continues to pump blood to the body surface where the sweat glands empty electrolytes and water onto the surface of the skin and evaporation becomes the only effective method of maintaining body temperature. However, under conditions of high humidity, even the evaporative mechanisms decrease, and the body's efforts to maintain an acceptable body temperature are significantly impaired. With a large quantity of blood going to the external surface of the body, little remains for the active muscles, the brain, and the internal organs, leading to declines in strength with fatigue occurring quickly.
Med-Eng offers proven solutions for electronics cooling and personal cooling to combat heat stress.
For cooling military vehicle electronics, the EPACC and PCU systems can be scaled to cool a wide range of electronic equipment.
To cool personnel in military vehicles, helicopters and Hazmat response vehicles, the DC Series of Chillers, Connectors and Vests present an ideal solution.
Users of Med-Eng bomb suits are recommended to wear the BCS 4 system to reduce their risk of heat stress in EOD/IEDD operations.
For best results, consider pre-duty, active-duty and post-duty personal cooling.
