Elektroplan Consulting Engineers shall in compliance with the environmental obligations placed upon it by the Constitution and within the constraints imposed from time to time by the nature of its business,

Accept responsibility for its use of the environment entrusted to it by:

  • Every member along the chain of control accepting accountability, right from the one who implements an activity that impacts upon the environment, to the seniors of such a person who order, cause, oversee or manage such an activity up to the highest level of Elektroplan Consulting Engineers.
  • Including this accountability in management directives and assignment sheets at all levels of the organisation.

Establish an environmental management system covering all aspects of its business by :

  • Following and implementing the guidelines set out in the International Standard ISO 14001.

Promote open communication on environmental issues by:

  • Consulting with communities and other concerned parties about environmental issues and programs.
  • Taking part in external environmental exhibitions. •  Publishing an annual environmental report.

Protect the environment by:

  • Taking possible impacts into consideration when planning any activity.
  • Ameliorating as far as practically and reasonably possible, any adverse impact that could not have been avoided.
  • Reducing emissions, effluents and waste caused by its activities.
  • Promoting the sustainable use of renewable resources.
  • Utilizing available resources effectively.
  • Promoting the use of environmentally acceptable materials, products and services.
  • Researching into ways to reduce environmental degradation.
  • Measuring and managing the environmental impact of its activities.

Subscribe to the National policy on multiple land use, where possible by:

  • Inter alia managing large tracts of land entrusted to its use, in an ecologically sound manner and so improving local bio-diversity and the resilience of nature in such areas.
  • Having the status of such areas declared as nature reserves and/or National Heritage sites to afford the maximum protection for species found on such sites.
  • Making such areas available for the fostering of environmental awareness education amongst own members and the public at large.

Foster continual improvement by:

  • Establishing demanding environmental targets.
  • Developing responsible in-house standards where no regulations exist.
  • Contributing to the development of public policy on the environment.

Train and motivate its members to regard environmental considerations as an integral and vital element of their day to day activities, by:

  • Actively implementing a policy of promoting environmental awareness amongst own members and in the broader interest externally.

Conduct environmental internal and external audits at regular intervals.
